Using Your Subconscious Mind
Each step of the way I listen more and more to my inner gut and guidance.
Our subconscious mind is powerful. It often knows the right answer far before our conscious mind “catches up” and can process a situation.
Lawyers: one way you use your subconscious mind knowledge is when you assess whether a potential client has a valid legal claim or defense.
Within a few sentences, my subconscious mind usually can tell whether a client has a legal claim. (Also, I can tell whether I want to represent a client or not. More on that in another post…)
Other cases aren’t so straightforward, and that’s when a thorough recitation of the facts is helpful to see if you can marinate on it and try to piece together a claim or defense.
When you are assessing whether to take a case, don’t ignore your gut. Because you know who also makes decisions based on their subconscious thinking? Everyone, including:
⚖ Opposing counsel who you are negotiating against
👑 Judges
⚖ Mediators
👑 Arbitrators
⚖ Juries
Trust your gut. It knows more than you think.
