The Importance of Reflection

My daughter recently turned 7. She loves the show Sugar Rush, which features intricate desserts, and so she really wanted an “explosion cake” at her party, which my husband and Lipp Law Firm Operations Manager dutifully made. Video here for tax...

Her turning 7 is huge milestone for my family and my business, because my daughter can now help with non-confidential administrative tasks at my law firm Lipp and mentoring brand Law Practice Queen. We can teach her work ethic, how a business functions, and give her insight into what Mama and Daddy do all day.

Five years ago, I never would have envisioned this life for myself. I was an employee at a law firm, knee deep in discovery documents, court motions, and trying my best to meet billable hour requirements while working on business development in my “free” time.

I would time my lunch breaks.
There would be days where I wouldn’t see the sun.
I would leave for the office around 8am and would return around 630pm, completely exhausted.
It feels like a lifetime ago but I’m grateful for it all.

If you are feeling unable to enjoy the big things that you are accomplishing in your career, look at how far you have come. This is the great advice I received from my business and life coach Cara Alwill in a Mastermind class.

Take a look back and see how much you have accomplished.

How much your life has changed.

What have you done in your career over the past 5 years that you are proud of?

I’m sure that you will be able to find many things that you have accomplished that the “you” 5 years ago would be in awe of.

Reflect back and see how far you have come, friend.

Tell me in the comments how far you've come in your career in the past 5 years.
